History

Founding

Lapeer Team Work's heritage began in the mid 1980’s in nresponse to the closing of the Oakdale Medical Facility, a very large State institution.

A group of community individuals saw the need in the community for an organization that would provide job skills and meaningful employment for individuals with disabilities, and through a grant from Developmental Disabilities Council of Michigan began providing these necessary services.

Helping the community grew to become a permanent part of the lives of our members and today Lapeer Team Work is a permanent part of the community.
